PIV Credential Self-Enrollment Kiosks
Government security personnel were spending too much time working through the verification steps to give visiting employees or guests access to buildings. It was a burden for both the security personnel and the visitors who needed to wait to gain access.
New Market Solutions developed an application that was installed in kiosks in several busy government buildings. Visiting employees and guests insert their PIV cards into the kiosk which (1) checks that the card is active, (2) verifies identity through fingerprint authentication (3) checks that all certificates are valid and current and, (4) grants general access to the desired locations.
This automated process for granting access to PIV cardholders streamlines the access control process and saves security personnel hours of time of administrative data entry allowing them to focus on more important security matters. It also eliminates frustrating wait times for visitors.
